Gerald Aulich St Marys Base Operator awarded Australian Fire Services Medal.

Congratulations to St Marys Base Operator Gerald Aulich being awarded the Australian Fire Service Medal (AFSM) at the 2009 Australian Day awards.

Gerald Aulich (2283) from St Marys Base was awarded with the Australian Fire Service Medal (AFSM) as part of the 2009 Australia Day Awards.

The Australian Fire Service Medal recognises distinguished service by paid and volunteer members of Australian fire services.

He joined the St Marys Fire Brigade in 1960 when volunteers were sent out with little more than a knapsack, rake, hoe and flail “to belt the fire with”.

The prestigious Australian Fire Service Medal (AFSM).

The prestigious AFSM recognises distinguished service by members of Australian fire services.  It is one of six meritorious awards in the Australian honours system.
